Kimbo Slice graces the cover the most recent "ESPN The Mag" for an in-your-face preview of the rather air-brushed profile of the MMA favorite that's inside.
The story of his journey from homelessness to fight-club superstar and budding entrepeneur was interesting enough. But more curious is Kimbo's appearance as a presenter at the Academy of Country Music Awards.
In the wildly popular sport of mixed martial arts, Mr. Slice owns a corner of the market on the mixed part: he mixes a little ZZ Top with a dash of Cosby, a healthy pinch of Mr. T and some not-nearly-ironic-enough zest of Mel Brooks.
What you can't see from the screen grab above is that he's also wearing blinding white sneakers and leaning on a wooden cane.
What at first looks like a haphazard ensemble, pieces of which he plucked willy nilly from the racks of his local Salvation Army store while wearing those very sunglasses on second thought makes a certain sort of sense.
Should things get dicey as he wades through the award show crowd on his way home, he's perfectly outfitted either to beat back the all-white Southern horde or make a run for it.
